IEP does not include transportation
Parents need to know:
You are responsible for transporting your child to and from school on the days they are suspended from riding the bus.
Next steps:
Behavior is a form of communication. If you have concerns that your child’s behavior on the bus which resulted in their suspension is directly related to their disability and a sign that they may need additional support, then you could request an IEP team meeting to discuss whether your child may need special education transportation added to their IEP as a related service.
To help you prepare for this IEP team meeting, you could reach out to your child’s IEP case manager and have a conversation about your concerns or contact a PACER advocate.
